Privacy

Short version: this site is a set of static pages. There is no account, no form, no newsletter and no advertising network on it, so there is very little about you for us to hold in the first place.

What the server records

Our web server keeps ordinary access logs: the address requested, the time, the response code, the browser string and the IP address the request came from. That is how any web server works, and it is how we notice that a page is broken or being scraped. These logs are kept short-term for operating the site and are not used to build a profile of anyone.

Partner links

Every partner button on this site points at an address on this domain and redirects from there. When you click one, we append a line to our own file recording the time, the page you clicked from, and which button it was. We do not write your IP address, your browser string or any identifier into that file, and we do not set a cookie to follow you. It tells us that a button on a page gets used; it cannot tell us who used it.

After the redirect you are on the operator’s site, under the operator’s privacy policy, and what happens there is between you and them. An operator may well set its own cookies and record its own identifiers, including ones that attribute your signup to us. Read their policy before you register.

What stays in your browser

The partner card and the popup use session storage — not a cookie — to remember that you have already seen or closed one, so it does not reappear while you read. It holds a single short value, it never leaves your browser, and it disappears when you close the tab. Clearing site data removes it.

What we do not do

Game demos

Where a page offers a demo, the frame is loaded only after you click it, and the provider is then free to set what it likes inside that frame. Not clicking means no third party runs on the page at all.

Your rights, and how to use them

Canadian privacy law gives you the right to ask what personal information an organisation holds about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Write to editor@ontariocashout.com and we will answer honestly, which in most cases means telling you that the only thing we hold is a server log line that we cannot connect to you by name.
